Land of the Living Skies – Canada
Geography:
Canada is the second largest in the world, with Ottawa as its capital. It covers most part of the North America. Its geography and ecology are very vast with more number of lakes than any other country, which contains fresh water. It also has water glaciers. Volcano eruptions and earthquakes are regular in this region.
Climate:
It has a variety of climate changes. It has hot summers and cool winters. There will be a reasonable rainfall in the winter. There will be snowfall almost for six months in a year.
Economy:
With high per capita income, Canada is considered as the wealthiest nation with high per capita income, in the world. It has a mixed market and has largest foreign importers. Its currency is Canadian Dollar. It is the largest supplier of agricultural goods.
Culture:
Canadian culture has been influenced by French, British and aboriginal cultures. It is well known for its languages, music and art. English and French are its two official languages. The other languages include Chinese, Italian, Spanish, German, and Punjabi.
Some of the galleries and museums include Royal Ontario Museum, Canadian Museum of Civilization, Art Gallery of Ontario and the other tourist destinations include Mont Royal Park, Banff National Park, Granville Island, Niagara Falls, Stanley Park and lots more.
Canada has a traditional cuisine of British, American, English Canada and French. Sea foods and Savoury foods are quite popular here.
Hockey and Lacrosse are the official sports in Canada. The other sports are football, baseball, golf, volleyball, skiing, and basketball.
Nightlife in Canada is very popular with a number of people partying in the pubs, clubs and bars which provides music and dance.
Transport:
The Canadian National and the Canadian Pacific Railways are the two major railway companies which operate in the entire North America. The passenger services are provided in both urban and remote rural areas.
Most cities have bus services and even tourist passes are available with reasonable fares.
Port of Vancouver, which is the busiest port in Canada, carries nearly 68 percent of domestic and international shipping.
Toronto Pearson International Airport is located 27km of Downtown Toronto in Ontario. It handles nearly 32.3 million passengers. There is a continuous operation of domestic flights to all major and secondary cities. It has two terminals. Bus, car, vans and taxis are available at the airport. Facilities such as restaurants, shopping, duty free shopping, internet, ATMs, accessories, banking and finance, books, baby change facilities are provided.
