History of Canada


Canada Pre-Colombian inhabitants had the same origins with the tribes that inhabited Australia, the Aboriginal natives.  In the 15th century, French and British expeditions set sails for the Northern part of the New World. France after the Seven Years War, took the upper part of North America, Today known as Canada, The UK took the central, USA today.

The first French province of New France in Canada was founded by Gaspe Peninsula, who claimed the land in the name of Francis the 1st of France.  Later on, another explorer, a geographer specifically, Samuel de Champlain founded the city of Quebec in 1608 which afterwards became the capital of New France.  The founder was also the administrator of Quebec and he continued to explore the land, discovered many beautiful sights, like the Champlain Lake.

After Champlain’s death, the man with the greatest influence in the capital of New France, the Catholic Church and the Jesuit establishment became the number 1 power in Quebec. The Catholics fantasized of a utopia formed by one community of both European and Aboriginal converted Christians.

Britain and France kept on having wars for the colonies during the whole 17th and 18th centuries. With the Treaty of Paris and the end of the 7 Years War, the Brits left the area and France established its rule in Canada. An official declaration of the borders between Canada and the United States of America was one of the treaty’s chapters. Fishing rights were split on the Saint Lawrence Gulf and the Grand Banks.
